Great for African American hair

I have long, curly and thick African American hair but I love straight hair. For many years I‘ve been searching for the right flat iron. I tried chi, conair, hot tools and many others, but none seems to tame my hair perfectly straight. My hair always puffed up and got frizzy shortly after straightening. One day I went to a salon with my friend and saw a stylish using a babyliss flat iron on a woman, who’s hair was quite like mine, thick and curly. The stylish finished in 20 minutes and created PIN straight hair that‘s just what I want. I asked the stylish and she said the straightener worked great for African American hair. So I bought one. It is great. Its plates are much longer than others, I could capture more hair in one go. It gets hot enough to straighten the section of strands by only one glide! With this babyliss, it takes only 20 minutes instead of 45 mins to one hour with other brands I’d used, to get the whole straightening job done. And AMAZINGLY I find that the result could even stay for 1 week! Neither sweating nor the rain affected it. I‘m happy with it.
The only thing is it seems to get a little too hot, I got my ears burned several times, it’s painful. Be careful when you use it and apply heat protectant on hair when doing the straightening.

Good tool

I got the 1 1/2" one, it works well on my hair type(long & fine). I have to select lower working temperature since my hair got a little burnt the first time I used it as I had chosen a relative high temperature. But I drew the lesson after that, so i can make a nice result now. It's a good tool, if used correctly.

Is it a good straightener?

My CHI went to an end after 3 years'service to me, it stopped heating the plates regularly. I had to buy a new one, since I love wear straight hair style, and I decided to buy the different hair straightener again. After using it for half month, I find this Babyliss is good, makes super straight hair, and still with shine on it. but think about it, it's almost 2 times of CHI original model's price, it should be this good performance. And I have no idea whether it's worth my money, it depends on the lifespan. &just keep looking
