post by Kristi C
Well, first of all, I'd recommend that if you haven't stopped using the chemical straighter you suspect of causing the problem. Having hair with an annoying wave sounds better to me than having no hair at all.

Second, calm down. One of the primary reasons for hair loss in most people is stress (caffeine....which causes dehydration...can be a culprit, too).

Vitamin deficiency is probably third on the list. If you're currently taking a good multi-vitamin, it might be a good idea. Take a multi-vitamin plus a complete amino acid supplement, it would took several weeks before you noticed any results.

With shorter hair, you need to wash it more often, but it's hard on it to wash it everyday. I don't think it would hurt to skip a day every now and again. It may be that the reason you see more of it shedding when you skip a day is simply that when you shower the loose hairs are going down the drain.

Check out the ingredients in your shampoo. The difference between sodium lauryl sulfate (harsh) and sodium laureth sulfate (milder) doesn't look like much in print, but the difference it makes to your hair is substantial.

I hope you find it helpful.

post by wrinklequeen
Anti wrinkle creams can be great although i think using spf from a young age is more important. I tried Olay (7 in one) but it didn't seem to work. For me L'oreal was better. Sorry, I can remember what the full brand names are as I haven't used them in a while. Now I just use a tinted moisturiser with spf.

post by terone
I agree L'Oreal has some great products and overall they are comparable with some department store beauty lines. I do not believe you have to spend $ 50 for a good wrinkle cream. That's ridiculous. And for many of us on a budget, just not practical.

I also alternate regular olive oil dabbed right under my eyes and on my forehead every other day or so. So simple and cheap. And it's worked wonders for me. My skin seems very smooth. Topically, they have proven it does help collagen resist damage. Many botanical skin products already include olive oil or other oils ( jajoba, almond oil, etc...) I would highly suggest it- in addition to a stronger wrinkle cream.

After straightened my natural wavy hair with a heat activated hair straightener, I found that the wave kicks in and kinda curls upwards when the hair gets to the length comes to about the top of MY ears. Then I used hair straightener to eliminate the problem, and got a perfect straight after the first time. But after I addicted to it and proceeded to use it everyday for about a month sometimes 2 times a day. Well, ever since then my hair has seemed to thin a lot and lose pieces of hair a day. Before I used the straightener I had pretty thick hair and now it's like impossible to style. When my hair is slick with water I can see my scalp never could before! I is worried about slowly losing my hair. How to solve this problem?

The hair straightener always get as hot as 450 degrees, after straighten the part of hair, the heat goes away and it doesn't straighten the hair well. The intense heat can really dry out hair and make it brittle and cause breakage. Just make sure get one with ceramic plates that heat evenly through the hair. Also you should be putting some type of thermal protectant on the hair before you dry your hair, just like CHI's Silk Infusion or CHI 44 Iron Guard.

Japanese hair straightening treatment could gives a wonderful result for hair and the hair looks nice. But before you get the treatment, you should do enough research about it. It is all about the stylist performing the procedure. You should have no problems in the hands of the right stylist. But in fact, there are very few stylists that are actually experts in the field.
