The Cool Setting of Hair Dryer

Asked by Kmm, Oct 21st, 2008

Usually when you first start drying your hair with heat setting and the most of your hair has dried; you should tend to use less heat; too much heat would damage your hair, make it very brittle and lots of split ends.

The cool setting button is used to reseal the cuticle layer of hair, after the intensity of the heat when using the blow dryer, it also helps to seal the product into your hair and make your hair more productive. If your hair is fair and you want to add body to it, this is what the button is for. Dry your hair with the hot button then add body by going over it with cold. The stylist said that cool hair down after you've been drying or styling it with heat helps seal the hair follicles. It's supposed to help reduce heat damage to your hair (i.e. split ends) and its also supposed to help set your style.

Hair just like plastic, while it's still warm it can be put into a curl; if the curl cools quickly it will retain its shape longer and stronger than if it cools slowly. Cool setting is usually used when people curl their hair. After they put their hair in hair curlers and take it out, then blow dry them with the cool setting button held down.

But if you have straight hair, there is a easier way: Use a blow dryer with the cool setting button after flat ironing the hair. This method only apply to the straight hair.
