I purchased a chi flat iron in 2008. The cord shorted out before my 1 yr warranty and the place of purchase swapped it out. I had my replacement for a little over a year and it quit working this morning. I still have my original box and receipt, but when I talked with Jerry @ Farouk he said they only warranty the product for 1 year and no longer do repairs. Thank goodness I had recently purchased a back up chi on ebay!Answered by Dana from Joplin, MO, Aug 26th, 2010

I just contacted the 800 # from a previous answer and was told that they no longer will do repairs for $35 when you do not have the receipt. Only 1 year warranty work now. I won't be purchasing another chi, cause as high as they are to purchase in the first place, there should be some kind of repair service.Answered by Kathy Williams from rolla missouri, Aug 20th, 2010

I am extreemly disapointed! I have four daughters and in the las6 6 years I have purchased 4 chi flat irons, because one of my daughter was taking cosmatology in high school and she was told that they were the best... well as for the way the work yes they work amazingly. But the qualaty SUCKS...After the first purchase my other girls loved it so came Christmas they all got one. well a couple of moths later the first on started having issues with the cord and power and stoped working... I blew it off because at one point they were all using just the one. But now two others have done the same... THE ELECTRICAL CORD HAS BIG ISSUES THAT YOU NEED TO FIX. I paid over a hudred dollors for these flat irons that have turned out to not be worth half that. I desided to contact now because my daughter was told that they had a life time warranty... have searched and searched and seems like that was a lie. very very disapointed!!!Answered by Trina L Torres from Irving, Texas 75060, Jul 12th, 2010

I had a CHI hairdryer that quit blowing hot air. The first time that I called Farouk I was told that I would need to send $35 and given an address to send the hairdryer to. I procrastinated on sending it back for about a month after realizing that I had to have a return code for the hairdryer as I didn't want to wait on hold for 2 hours as I had previously had to do. I just spoke w/ Farouk and they now have a "new system" and no longer will replace dryers that are not working if you don't have a receipt to prove it is still under the one year warranty. I immediately asked to be transferred to management and told them the story and they agreed to replace it for $35. I will not be purchasing a CHI product EVER AGAIN!!Answered by megan from New York, NY, Apr 5th, 2010

My chi hair dryer does not blow hot air only after having it for 1 year. It was $175 at a local canadian retailer and I would expect something of this price to last much longer. The retailer will not help me, and now I have use my $20 hai dryer that I have had for more than 10 years.By the time I pay for shipping, parts and labour to repair it, I will be out of pocket as much as it initially cost me. Do you have any suggestions?Answered by Sheri from Winnipeg, Mar 28th, 2010

I purchased a straight iron in 2002 and 3 months later it wouldn't respond to electricity consistantly. Hair salon said send to co. with $35 and they may referbish it. something with the cord was messed up. thought that was to much trouble so i rigged the cord and it lasted about 3 years.
Now in 2006 they have pink out and that's my fav color so i purchased it; still kickin ass.
In 2007 bought the pink blow dryer. Had it less than a yr and the heating element went out; yep just blowin cold air. The rep replaced it for free but i got black. i hate black blowdryers. Now it's 2010 and less than a week ago blow dryin hair and no heat.
Called the chi co. Customer service rep was very polite but couldn't help me. So I just asked to talk to management. She got management and said they'd send new dryer if it didn't have counterfiet parts. Iron purchased in 2002 is also getting replaced.
I'm happy, hope parts are not counterfiet.
I've used many knock-off products from retailers and I truly belive in the chi products. I have 4 daughters and we use the products daily. They hate anything but chi. we currently have the pink iron, digital iron, and blowdryer got sent to co. today for replacement. The co. will work with you if you are polite and talk to management. Hope this story helps you. Oh I was told by reps that products are being built in USA now. They have been overseas gettin built. Hope the new usa built products last longer.Answered by shelby from Pittsburg, Jan 19th, 2010

I bought a CHI Flat Iron about 2 weeks ago and have only used it a few times and it was working great! Until Yesterday when I started using it and the gold on the heat plate started rubbing off! Every time I do a strand of hair more comes off! I love the straightener but why is this happening after only 2 weeks? Who can I contact about this? Thanks

I am just sick. My Chi hair dryer is less than 2 years old and it stopped blowing hot air. After browsing through the web, it is apparent that this is a huge product flaw. Unless the company fixes or replaces my dryer free of charge, I will let everyone know what a rip off this product is.Answered by M Shumate from North Carolina, Dec 22nd, 2009

I've had my Chi Pro Hair dryer for less than 2 years and have only used it recently. Immediately, the on/off switch got hot, burned my finger and now only works on a low setting. I called Farouk Systems and was politely informed that I would have to pay $35 to get it repaired....if it was a defect in the dryer they would send me a new one, but would not refund the $35. I was shocked! This dryer cost over $100 and lasted less than 2 years. Other hair dryers I have purchased for a fraction of that have lasted 10 years for me. I'm calling the Better Business Bureau in Houston!Answered by Margaret Stark from Austin Texas, Dec 2nd, 2009

ANN WALKER - I am replying to your email.
I sent my CHI travel hair dryer w/$15 and they actually sent me a letter because they did not have my phone # telling me they wanted to send me a new hair dryer which then did in less than a week! I was pretty happy about that. My only fear is that this one too will stop working before I get any real use out of it. I doubt that I will purchase another after reading all the bad stuff on here. THEY COST MORE THAN THE AVERAGE APPLIANCE AND THEY SEEM TO BE JUNK/. I am trilled that they did good by me. Try again!Answered by anna from sonoma, california, Sep 14th, 2009
